I use a power-delivering docking station (model Dell WD19DC) with my Dell laptop that connects via USB-C and I'm hoping to be able to reliably plug in my 2017 15' MacBook Pro as well. So far it works fine with the MacBook - all my devices, including external monitors, connect ok - but I'm unclear about the power delivery aspect. The specs on the WD19DC say that Dell laptops receive 210W of power while non-Dell machines receive 90W. How many gb of storage does a macbook air have. I haven't fried my MacBook yet (as far as I can tell), and it seems to charge just as well as with the OEM Apple charger.

A few questions here that will reveal my ignorance about how electricity works:
- I believe most Dell laptops need ~65W when charging, so am I really receiving 210W with the Dell? Assume this is regulated somewhere along the way (or just results in a faster charge)?
- The 15' MacBook Pro needs ~87W when charging, so if I'm receiving 90W, am I at risk of damaging the machine? Again, assume this is regulated somewhere along the way?
- Is it problematic if I'm actually receiving less than 90W? Have read in other places that using chargers below the required ~87W can damage the battery in the long run.
- Has anyone had any luck with other 'universal' power-delivering docking stations that explicitly support Mac and PC?

Note that this is the DC, not Thunderbolt, version.
